MERIDITH FORD, OWNER AND GELATAIA

Meridith is the mom behind Cremalosa. Meridith started out as a pastry chef, became a food writer, and then went back to being a chef (who occasionally writes). As a single parent, she always had to work, and it wasn’t always easy. She’s had a lot of help from friends and family. See that little heart in the Cremalosa logo? That was inspired by one of her daughter’s childhood doodles, and it’s here to remind her every day that hard work pays off. Cremalosa is the culmination of a lot of dreaming and even more elbow grease, but mostly a lot of love.

That’s why Meridith wants Cremalosa to be a place of community, where families and friends gather to gab, eat gelato, relax with a glass of wine, and have fun. A place where smiles are part of the décor, everyone is respected and treated fairly and lots of laughing takes place.

We get happy. Heart and soul. All it takes is one scoop…

Truett Ford, Daughter and Head Barista

Truett joined the team in February of 2023 when Cremalosa expanded to include specially crafted espresso beverages. They’ve been in and around Cremalosa since it opened, as the daughter of the amazingly talented Meridith Ford--that's their heart in the logo, after all--and were so thrilled to come on board as Head Barista that they said yes before Meridith could even ask the question. Truett has been a barista for three years and a manager at Starbucks for two before coming on board. While they were mainly hired for their barista skills, they also serve as the head of Marketing and Administration for Cremalosa.

The best part of Cremalosa for Truett is the community. Their mission is to create the most inclusive space possible where everyone feels like they have the freedom and pride to be themselves. Truett aims to create connections over coffee, and while they may not always remember your name, they will remember your drink order.

When not at Cremalosa, you can find them watching reruns of Golden Girls with their grandmother or petting their cat, Sir Bastian, while binge-reading a new novel.
